Infogrames Entertainment, S.A. (Paris Bourse: SICOVAM 5257) is a worldwide leader in the interactive entertainment software industry. Headquartered in France, the company develops and publishes award-winning computer and video games for the PlayStation game console, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Game Boy Color, Sega Dreamcast, Macintosh, and personal computer platforms.
Founded in 1983 by chairman and CEO Bruno Bonnell, Infogrames has published many award-winning franchises in its long history, such as Alone In The Dark, Test Drive, Driver, Deer Hunter, Oddworld, Unreal, Independence War, and V-Rally. The company is also known for it's best-selling and award-winning line of children's entertainment software from Humongous Entertainment starring Putt-Putt, Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam and SPY Fox, as well as its successful Macintosh publishing label, Macsoft, the number one publisher of Macintosh entertainment software. In addition, Infogrames has a number of key strategic licenses including Warner Bros. Looney Tunes, Nickelodeon's Blue's Clues, Le Mans 24 Hours, AM General Hummer, Harley-Davidson, and Dodge Viper.
On May 7, 2003, Infogrames officially announced its name change to Atari, including all major subsidiaries.
Infogrames's first work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1985 title, "Pinball Wizard" (C64).
The company has been involved titles released on the PC, Wii, PS2, Power Mac, PSP, Xbox, GameCube, GBA, PlayStation, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, N64, Nuon, Game Boy, Saturn, Sega Megadrive, SNES, Amiga, Amiga AGA, Mac, Oric, C64, Spectrum 48K, Sinclair Spectrum 128K and Amstrad CPC. Of these, "Sonic Adventure 2" (GameCube), "Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines" (PC), "Super Monkey Ball" (GameCube), "Driver" (PlayStation), "Driver 2" (PlayStation) has been a best selling title.
The company's most recent involvement was on the 2005 release "Premier Manager Ninety Nine" (PC).
