Summary

Video games have always leaned towards the epic, and with the horsepower driving this generation of consoles they are really delivering in a big way. Still, nothing really growls 'epic' (most likely in a voice that storm clouds would envy) like playing as the god of thunder, does it? While numerous Marvel Comics characters have stepped into the games spotlight over the years, their interpretation of Thor has never had a title to call his very own. With the appearance of the movie and Thor: God of Thunder, that's all changed.

While the game certainly takes its lead and its visual cue from the film – not to mention the voice talent of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston as Thor and Loki respectively – it branches off in new directions. Penned by current Thor scribe, Eisner Award-winning Matt Fraction, the story sees the lord of lightning battling beyond Asgard and Earth to fight foes from the comics such as Ulik, Ymir and Surtur in realms that range from hellish worlds of ice and fire to planets lived on by titanic Frost Giants.

Players will wield Thor's mythic hammer Mjölnir in cinematic third-person battles. Going up against massive enemies, they'll need to make use of powerful melee moves and ranged hammer throws to bring down the wrath of the gods!
