Summary

The Old West is on the up. Between the likes of Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and Red Dead Redemption, the Xbox 360 and PS3 have their share of wild Western shoot-'em-ups. FatShark, however, is offering something a bit different with Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West.

Lead and Gold isn't about taking out computer-controlled cowboys, it's about taking down REAL gunfighters. Well, gunfighters being controlled by real people, anyway. It's a multiplayer-only experience. A third-person multiplayer experience that sets you off against other shootists across Western towns, mines, ranches and an assortment of other gold rush locations.

In terms of how they play, the characters on offer are fairly recognisable. You've got the pistol-wielding cowboy, a hunting lass with a sniper rifle, a miner with a shotgun and the all-rounder lawman with his rifle. Events include Capture the Flag, 'grab it all' type challenges and your standard deathmatch modes. You'll be also be rewarded for teamwork, with teammates benefiting from being near to each other thanks to the 'Synergy' system. You can also revive your partners (assuming, of course, that your enemies haven't gone and shot them in the face while they're down).

So, in the name of the American pioneer spirit, draw!
