Summary

When is a first-person shooter not a first-person shooter (and thus not up for scrutiny by the Daily Mail reading masses)? When it's a paintballing game! That makes it a sports game, if your Gran asks...

The concept is pretty straightforward - you take part in a variety of game modes that reflect the real life events of the sport. You load up the hopper, pull down your mask (remember Byker Grove!), take cover and get to the business of shooting your evil foes to Kingdom Come! Sorry... that was, 'eliminate' your sporting opponents.

While the game's core mechanics are that of a first-person shooter's, you won't be bogged down with a cumbersome story to slow things down, for one. You'll also find new moves such as sliding and diving in your repertoire.

Because Millennium Series Championship Paintball 2009 is a sports game as well as a shooter, Activision has worked hard to give it an authentic feel. As well as cramming in plenty of officially licensed gear, the company has also been in consultation with Team Dynasty and Bob Long, incorporating motion-captured moves and realistic ballistics on those little balls of paint flying around.

Just remember - keep that visor down!
