Tweety and the Magic Gems is officially the first board game for the Game Boy Advance. One day Tweety found a magic box in the woods and being the inquisitive little bird that he is, he opened it. He didnt realise that long ago, Granny had sealed an evil witch in the box and cast a protective spell over it. Tweety is now in the unfortunate predicament of being slowly turned to stone. If you want to save Tweetys life you must travel the globe and find the five magic gems to stop the spell. The race against time is on.
You can play Tweety and the Magic Gems with up to three friends or three computer opponents. You start the game randomly on the world map and you must navigate the map to find the hidden locations of the gems. Luckily, the lower right hand corner gives you a rough idea of which direction to be heading in. You have to find those gems before your friends do. There are many cities in the world that need exploring, the pressure is on.
Tweety and the Magic Gems plays just a like a computerised version of a board game. You stop the playing cards flipping to determine how many spaces you can travel and then decide on the route you wish to take. Drawing an ace earns you a useful item and lucky sevens give you both an item and double movement.
To make your adventure more fun, along the path there are numerous sub and mini games to play. These games are not only simple and fun, but can make the difference between recovering the gems and failing. To play a mini-game you must land on a red square and if you land on the same square as your opponent, you can challenge them to a match. The winner of the match walks away with the gem.
Overall, Tweety and the Magic Gems is an entertaining board game that is fun for up to four people.
