Jonny Moseley Mad Trix - PS2

It’s from 3DO... the Army Men are back... or is it another Might and Magic game!? Nope, this time, Trip Hawkins and his team are going where no skier has gone before – to the exciting world of fictional slopes in Jonny Moseley Mad Trix for PlayStation 2.

Licensed by the man himself, Jonny Moseley Mad Trix presents itself as a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game on snow, and without wheels. It’s nice to see 3DO giving us something different for once.

Okay, let’s get down to the nitty gritty. Instead of presenting bland environments, blanketed with nothing but snow, trees and the occasional fence, Mad Trix covers the entire world with the white stuff. Just to make things more interesting, of course. Players can now take to the slopes of Las Vegas and San Francisco, as they control professional players such as Tanner Hall, Evan Raps and Moseley himself.

The bulk of the main game is focused upon scoring points while executing a series of well-timed trick moves. There are 150+ stunts to master that include Rail Slides, Tai Pans, Illegals and the famous Dinner Roll (no, me neither). To achieve the highest scores and maintain a position at the top of the leader board, you must learn to combine your talents. Cumulative scoring really is the only way to progress in Mad Trix.

Plenty of game options, plenty of tricks, an intuitive control system and some highly detailed and varied environments all help to make Mad Trix one of the most complete and unique extreme sports games available.
