Summary
Star Wars Force Commander is a real time strategy game for the PC that gives you control over the Imperial and Rebel Forces. During a massive and bloody battle, your commanding office is killed and it’s down to you to take charge.
The Star Wars universe is an ideal setting for a game of this nature. It gives you the chance to replay the films' scenes from a different perspective. For example, one of the training missions involves locating an escape pod containing two droids who have stolen Imperial secrets. When you locate the pod, you notice sandcrawler tracks leading away from the scene. A nice insight into the frustration of the Empire.
Force Commander eases you nicely into the game, teaching you how to control the camera and how to split and mobilise your troops. The control method is well thought out and with a little practice it’s possible to fight several battles at the same time. The graphics are well drawn and detailed, adding to a sense of realism. The atmospheric music is remixed for the game.
