OMG

That is just what mine did yesterday in that video. Exept mine is the normal 360. Made the same horrible noise, crunch, cracked and now plays nothing.

It has just been picked up from UPS. The best thing is, the machine that has just been picked up, is a replacement from 2 weeks ago when my older machine had the three red lights of death.

Its getting a joke now microsoft, how long can you keep getting away with this s**t.

Where's that 120gb hard drive? Think I'll settle with that.

Mine was broken out of the box, Walmart was kind enough to exchange. I may return it this Elite and buy a used Core with a warrantee and buy a PS3. I cant see anyone investing in one of these. Im too scared to buy and add on HD,, too risky, plus I ended up going through 6 regular Xbox's that broke.

I've owned an original XBOX for the last year and a half - I just sold it on Ebay for about $380 so I could buy the Elite. Got the Elite yesterday - no problems with it at all. Already have the HD Add-on - LOVE IT. Great picture, and I use the sound throught the Optical so I can get Dolby Didgital Plus.

I don't see this as being a risky investment . . .you have a pretty big company backing it with a lot of money. I think you also get a year warranty now, as opposed to the 90 day'er offered by Sony. . .

Gears of War is the best game I've ever played. Halo 3 won't eclipse it, I promise.

Got my first Elite switching from the PS2. Wow xbox live is great but why do they charge?, and how come the controllers don't come with rechargable batteries. Anyways it's working fine, i think it's a matter of you get a good one or you don't. Sort of with Ford haha.

Got me Elite yesterday and its so far running smoove as a baby's rear end. Watch an hd-dvd on it last night with no problems (FYI, horror fans should all check out slither, brilliant crap cinema).

Need to dig out one of my memory cards to transfer game saves but the live migration took about 3 min and the system seems to be running just dandy so far.

Going to sell my launch 360 to a friends. its been running for a good year and a half with no probs as well. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky one

This isn't a big surprise in my eyes. I own all three systems(360, PS3, Wii) and the 360 has given me hell during gameplay. I've seen the ring a death at least a dozen times. Each time I find myself going through the same BS procedure just to get it up and running. The PS3 may not have any great games yet, but it's absolutely quiet, and has never failed. As for the Wii, it's not anywhere near as powerful as the other consoles so why would I expect it to die off. The power of the Wii could be put on a cell phone.

Like Scooby I also own all three systems but haven't had any problems with any of them. The 360 is definitely the loudest of the three, and I think the airflow coming out of the PS3 is greater than the airflow out of the 360, so maybe the PS3 has better fans I don't know - they're definitely quieter.

I have to agree that the Wii probably can't compete long term. I don't know what Nintendo was thinking not giving us Hi-Def, at least 720p - The games look horrible on my 56" DLP even with the Nintendo component cables. I haven't seen any games that couldn't have been done on a PS1. Graphically very disappointing.

Ironically, the only system I've had any problems with is the Wii. I had a controller "lock up" where it wouldn't recognize movement any more. Nintendo tech support was very helpful but the (surprising) solution was to give the controller a good whack into the palm of my hand, "unsticking the accelerometer" - worked like a champ. I also just about had a heart attack when one of the wrist straps broke and a controller hit my aforementioned $2,000 HDTV. Fortunately Samsung apparently makes a pretty tough screen and it didn't break or scratch at all. My son will probably need therapy from the experience though since he thought I was going to kill him :)

I understand people's gripes with the graphical issues with the Wii, but it was never for people who have 60 inch screens, with 1290ppz gubbins. It was for families with a standard 32 incher or what not. As for the 360 issues, it is pretty weak to have not ironed out all the bugs by now, and i for one am seriously pissed that the Elite is even being released. We were told that people who wanted the whole 'shebang' should go for the Premium. Now i feel like a kid who has asked out girl, but it turns out that she wasn't as hot as i remember and is infact a bit like the school bike! I hate to sound xenophobic and jingoistic, but it is a very American trait to release something that isn't completely finished , try to iron out bugs, and then just replace the faulty stuff without holding your hands up and saying it was rushed. Same with my iPod!

This may be genuine, it may be fake, but my xbox 360 premium made identical sounds when i put two disks in it at once. It still works fine and its my original launch unit. Amazingly the game still played, very jumpily, but it worked.

I wish MS would get their act together, but what do people expect when they buy a console from people who made the infamous "Blue Screen of Death" somethign even REGULAR users EXPECT.

Nintendo and Sony don't seem to have this problem. If you want gimicky controllers, buy a Wii, if you want HD graphics buy a PS3, avoid a 360 at all costs, unless you actually LIKE going regularly to the post office to return it for repair.

windows is an amazingly scalable and complicated OS than runs on basically everything from pocket PC's to gigantic petabyte servers. Its also backwardly compatible with software from 15 years ago. Theres a reason it's a mess. Not that that's an excuse, i personally think they should go OSX route and drop all the backwards compatibility BS and do a clean new OS. but i'm not bill gates.

Ok, i couldn't use my wii memory card to actually save games onto without a web update for my wii. Nintendo has a better track record than most but they aren't without faults. Also big ugly bug in Zelda... oops.

As for sony, the PS1 and PS2 where both infamous for dying young. Most people I know have owned multiples of each but act like its a new thing when xboxs start dropping off after a year or so. Its still inexcusable but its nothing new or exclusive to MS. The ps3 has been out 6 months, time will tell.

As for choosing, i personally own more awesome games for my 360 than the wii and ps3 have in their combined libraries (good games not games total). I love my Wii and will probably have a PS3 by years end, but hating on the 360 cause some people on the internet have had them break and gotten them replaced is a bit absurd. Take a few deep breaths and go play some gears of war and it'll be just fine ;)

Where on God's green Earth did you hear that Windows is scalable? You don't know what scalable is. Windows is probably the least scalable of Solaris, AIX, HPUX, Linux, *BSD, OS X. Go look at some high end Sun or IBM equipment for examples of scalability.

Windows is NOT on your pocket PC.

What is your definition of a petabyte server, and where did you find one running Windows? It sure as heck isn't one PB of storage on a single Windows server. OH, maybe you meant a Windows cluster with a PB or more storage. How many puny X86 boxes would be needed to process that much data?

That's why i rather stick with Mac OS, i wish a system ran off Mac, it would be awsome . . . until then PS3 will have to do (once i get one)
