If you took the term "digital rights managment" out of the statment i would be fine and dandy with the rest of it. I like the idea that i could move mp3s to my xbox2 with ease , but if its only the digitaly signed ones i downlowded legaly its kind of a bummer. I would like being able to get xbox live notificatiosn on messenger and messaging people on live! through messenger... i just wish i could do it with aol or icq or whatever the heck program i wanted instead of there software specifically. Hell the could even make the other companies pay a licensing fee to add the functionality to there chat software, i dunno. i like the idea that my nextbox would work in tandem with a media center pc... but i wish it could be a linux based pc with media center compatible components... and one remote control that rules everything... sounds great... will it work with a linux pc hooked up to my entertainment center? sadly i doubt it.
The more i hear the man talk about it the more im positive the xbox2 is going to be way more impressive than i had originally suspected. Unfortunatly it may be that much more evil too...
and now halo 2.5 on xbox live! is goign to check and make sure my copy on windows is registered :(
considering how easy it is to crack an xbox the fact that there is STILL no way to get away with having a cracked xbox on live doesnt make it look to good for the future... i highly doubt there is going to be a way to circumvent all their crazy copy protection without missing out on some of the functioanlity of the new system : (
heres hoping nintendos knows what they are doing with revolution

Well, I think you can. I think you just have 2 hard-drives and a switch. Anyway, Xlink Kai is a really neat tool. You can play games that only support LAN gaming, online.
The difference is, when Nintendo claim to be number two, they are talking about Japan. When Microsoft say it, they are talking world-wide. Nintendo are just trying to maintain the illusion that they are still in the race.

I think it's the European effect that makes people over there believe Nintendo are out of "the race".
I wonder if people in Japan think that Microsoft is out of the race?

There's a simple solution: Don't be a cheaparse and actually buy the products. You crack an XBox/a copy of Windows/anything, you deserve to get caught.
I do agree with the fact that Microsoft should allow more freedom with their potential XBOX linkup - to your own stereo perhaps, and not just a MS branded 'Boom Bass Stereo 2005 XP Home Edition' (arriving in 200-never(?)) though. And I wouldn't mind AIM or ICQ using the XBOX linkup either (even for a fee). But to be honest, nobody's going to want to pay the fat conglomerates for the privelidge, and you can see where this is going anyway - in the end all you'll be using is Microsoft product.
Which I don't like the sound of, however much I like my XBOX.

You crack an Xbox and deserve to be caught for what? Modifying an electrical consumer product? What's wrong with that? If you buy something you should be allowed to make your own modifications to it.
Obviously piracy is wrong - unless it's an EA game ;-)

But Microsoft don't like the idea of the consumer owning something. Once they realised there was no valid reason for anyone "upgrading" from Windows 98/Office 98, they quickly realised their revenues could easily go down the drain. Nowadays, they'd rather you licenced everything and kept paying, and paying and paying.
Plus, they'd like to leverage every Monopoly they have into every other arena.

Or Microsoftware. It's best not to use it, but if you have to (because of their monopoly, nad most people's sheep-like compliance), it's better not to pay for it.

Jabber! Jabber is what you're looking for. It's an open chat/IM protocol, which provides gateways between Jabber chat servers and Yahoo, AOL, MSN and a bunch of other IM systems.
We use it in the office to relay text snippets, URIs and the like, and communicate with our London office without having to pick up the phone every two minutes (even if it is free VoIP)
Jabber also caters for whiteboarding, video conferencing and a host of other cool stuff.

i am faaaaaar from a cheap arse... if i where a cheap arse i would have way more money left at the end of the day :( damn this check to check lifestyle of mine! that said i have not hacked and xbox specifically because i like to play on live so damn much. and if i did hack/crack (coudl be either since i could do it with a chip or with the mechassault memory card save thing) one i would use it for playing emulators and downloaded video watching in my living room not for playing pirated games. I am unfortunatly reatrded and like to own things, as most people do. If a game is good enough that i would play it to any length i woudl like to own it. if not, well then i would never buy it anyway. For me downloading games would be like getting to try before you buy. And yea yea i know i can just go to blockbuster but i dont personaly think paying 15% of a games total price to try it for 2 days is fair. (hell blockbuster probably does more to prevent game sales than piracy ever has, but then i think they have to pay more for each copy of the game to help make up for it... i think)
as for windows.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... im sorry but if you are paying for windows.... you are a f'ing moron (not counting those who got a copy with there new pc, i personaly own a dell just cause i like having a waranty) the fact that for less than 500 bucks i can go out and by a pc today that will run any game avaialble relatviely well and perform any other computing task i need makes me think that 100-200 dollars for an operating system is f'ing bull$hit! Although it does make me happy knowing that because i didn't pay for my copy of XP you had to pay just a little bit more for yours ;P sucker! _______
"Cracking" something tends to mean the removal of copyright mechanisms. Chipping a machine is cracking. Modding a Xbox to run Linux is hacking.
Hack's. Crack's. They're all the same to me (wink wink, nudge nudge).
Now I'm confused, since one method (which I've used) is to flash the bios (thus disabling any copyright milarky), which wouldn't be considered "chipping" since no soldering ever took place.
Shall I call it a CHrack?
Edit: The soldering part isn't entirely true. What I was infering is that no additional "chips" are required as a permenant component of the modded box.
after many audible atempts i have determined the term CHrack would be pronounced "track" which sadly does not sound cool... thusly i have decided we shall reffer to this new bread of hacking as... "BRACKING"!!! i would like to thereby initiate the worlds first Bracking group... any volunteers?
i think when the movie comes out i will have to play my own sexy self... angelina joley(spelling?) will hopefully be available to play kid77... ohhhh baby!
