I felt kinda bad for getting this for a fiver, brand-new from GAME. It definitely deserved more sales than it got, let's hope the sequel can give the series the boost it so very deserves!
If they were announced and to be released in 2012, then 2012 would be arguable one of the best years of gaming since 98. 2011 was pretty action packed so far, but I don't think it's going to have 2012 beat. All 2012 needs is a little Faith.
^~~~Maybe to the typical FPS gamer whose afraid to take off his/her sh*t-tinted glasses, and realize that some of the best and most unique games don't require poop-brown & gray color schemes w/ guns.
I passed on this games fo the first few years, and stumbled across a brand new copy at a local k-mart for $15. Hand's down one of the most enjoyable games I've played this year. And out of this gaming generations underdogs/New IPs, this is the best. I think it personally topples over Enslaved, Heavenly Sword, among many others.
I was ready the second I finished the first one. I love that you can clear the whole game without shooting anyone and I thought all the traversal was fantastic. One of the games I'll remember most fondly when looking back on this gen.
After Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, the disappointment that is SWToR, and now (possibly) Mirror's Edge 2 is trying to reach a "Broader" audience, EA will happily destroy any franchise for a single high-sales number.
I wanted to let you know that I am a Business Administration Marketing Major who has quite a bit of relevant experience with technology and video games as well as sales and marketing.
I saw a quote that insinuated that DICE might still develop Mirrors Edge 2. This quote also referenced yourself saying that there was potential for the game but the game would have to appeal to a broader market.
As the owner of tampaparkour.com and TPK/Tampa Parkour Facebook, I can tell you the fanbase is slightly worried about whether or not the 2nd game would even be worth playing through once after making "broad market appeal" changes. Right now many of us who still play the original turn new parkour practitioners on to the game every day.
In closing, remember that you base target market has already grown exponentially because parkour has grown exponentially since the release of the first game. If you make too many cookie cutter changes, you may as well release a clone to TRON: Evolution. Please try not to lose us all before the ME2 release.
Best Regards, Damon
- P.S. - I know quotes can be out of context so if you are already considering my marketing recommendations please disregard the body of this message! Great work at DICE!
I picked ME up in the Steam Christmas sale. Was blown away by it. Truly innovative and fun gameplay combined with one of the most stunning design aesthetics I've ever seen in a game. Just thinking about those stunning vistas with the multicoloured buildings against the bright blue sky brings back great memories. Single player games don't often live on in the minds of gamers beyond their natural shelf life. Mirror's Edge does...
I really hope they make a sequel. If they do I'll be preordering it this time!
